Sewn Portrait

I came across this idea in a magazine and thought it was very clever. 

You print off an image of something onto paper and attach it to a piece of fabric. Then sew around the lines of the image. Carefully tear away the paper image and you are left with a sewn version of your image.

I tried this technique with an image of my brother and this is how it turned out...

 

I also tried it with an image of me from my childhood...

However this one didn't turn out as good, I've found that the simpler the image the better it turns out :)
